Measures R, S, and T were faring very well early Tuesday night. The measures, which change the Pasadena City Charter, including accounting method for the power fund transfer, limits on contract, settlement, and claims approvals and selection methods for contracts on infrastructure projects were all winning with well over 90% of the vote.
Here is a summary of the first results from the election on the amendments: Measure R: This measure proposed amendments to the Pasadena City Charter to make clerical corrections and update the accounting method used for the transfer from the Power Fund to the General Fund. The measure was supported by Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo, former Mayors Bill Bogaard and Terry Tornek, former City Manager Steve Mermell, and Pasadena Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Paul Little. There were no submitted opponents. The measure was passing with 90.82% (11,206 votes) voting ‘YES’ and 9.18% (1,133 votes) voting ‘NO’.
Measure S: This measure proposed amendments to Article X of the Pasadena City Charter to require the City Council to set limits by ordinance for contract, settlement, and claim approvals. The measure was supported by Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo, former Mayor Bill Bogaard, Local Business Owner Gale Kohl, former City Manager Steve Mermell, and Chamber President Paul Little. There were no submitted opponents. The measure was passing with 89.08% (10,843 votes) voting ‘YES’ and 10.92% (1,329 votes) voting ‘NO’.
Measure T: This measure proposed an amendment to Article X of the Pasadena City Charter to include additional contract selection methods for public capital improvement and infrastructure projects. The measure was supported by Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo, former Mayors Bill Bogaard and Terry Tornek, former City Manager Steve Mermell, and Local Resident & Advocate Nina Chomsky. There were no submitted opponents. The measure was passing with 91.40% (11,163 votes) voting ‘YES’ and 8.60% (1,051 votes) voting ‘NO’.
