PCC, Arizona State University Partner to Offer College Students Transfer Pathways With New Collaboration

Pasadena City College on Wednesday signed an agreement to make it easier for students from the San Gabriel Valley to transfer to Arizona State University, one of the most prestigious four-year institutions in Southwest America.

The “MyPath2ASU” gives students from SGV the opportunity to pursue advanced study at ASU’s multiple campuses in Arizona or at ASU Local – the university’s hybrid undergraduate program being offered at ASU California Center in Downtown Los Angeles.

The transfer agreement allows PCC students to coordinate their course schedules with degree requirements at ASU so that they will experience a seamless entry to ASU’s bachelor’s degree programs.

“Basically what it does is it makes it easier for credits to count from PCC at ASU,” Alex Boekelheide, PCC spokesman said. “Often it can be confusing to understand what courses at PCC someone needs to take to fit into a degree program at a four year institution. And so this framework helps students have a clearer picture when they start at PCC of where they can end up at ASU, if that’s the path they choose.”

Aside from ASU, PCC currently has transfer agreements with University of California and California State University.

PCC President Erika Endrijonas said PCC is thrilled to be able to offer an additional option to the students pursuing a bachelor’s degree.

“We know how important the benefits of a bachelor’s degree are to our students,” said Endrijonas. “It’s more than just an increase in pay and an expansion of career opportunities. The intellectual and social development that comes with a college education only gets broader and deeper the more time you spend pursuing your degree.”

“Through our reinstated partnership with Pasadena City College, we are committed to developing supportive environments for transfer students to seamlessly achieve high-quality baccalaureate degrees that prepare learners for their future careers,” said Cheryl Hyman, ASU Vice Provost, Academic Alliances.

“We continuously focus on enhancing the transfer experience by introducing new pathway options through advanced transfer navigation technologies and personalized learning offerings like MyPath2ASU,” Hyman added.
