ArtCenter College of Design is set to host “Mosaic: Work by ArtCenter Staff,” a transdisciplinary exhibition featuring artwork created by staff members from various departments, the College announced Tuesday. The exhibit, which runs from May 10 through May 29, 2024, will be on view at the Hutto-Patterson Exhibition Hall (870-100A), the Project Space (870-213), and the Dedicated Gallery (870-214).

“Mosaic: Work by ArtCenter Staff” celebrates the diverse talents and collaborative spirit of the College’s staff, showcasing their multifaceted creative abilities. The exhibition invites visitors to explore the intersections where distinct perspectives converge and immerse themselves in the kaleidoscope of creativity envisioned by the artists.

“In Mosaic, arrays of styles, mediums, techniques and voices are woven into a rich, complex, collective tapestry,” said Jennifer Faist, artist, director of collections and systems at the ArtCenter Library, and the staff art exhibition committee chair. “As ArtCenter is often regarded as notable for nurturing up-and-coming artists and designers, it should come as no surprise that many staff members are also creatives themselves.”

The opening reception, scheduled for May 16, 2024, from 6 until 8 p.m., will also feature live performances by talented staff members of the College. As a collective effort of the ArtCenter Staff Council, “Mosaic: Work by ArtCenter Staff” is dedicated to providing a platform that fosters empowerment and diverse voices.

ArtCenter’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Karen Hofmann, who began her career as a designer, actively supports the artistic talents of the College’s entire community. “It is a privilege to have so many staff members at ArtCenter who are actively engaged in a variety of design and art-making processes and who so are well-versed in the language of creativity,” Hofmann said.

Following the success of last year’s debut exhibition, “In Focus,” the showcase aims to become a standing tradition celebrating the remarkable works of ArtCenter staff. The exhibition is a collaborative effort made possible by the Offices of the President and the Provost, Exhibitions, and Staff Council.

The Hutto-Patterson Exhibition Hall, which will host the exhibition, features a diverse rotation of art, sculpture, and mural exhibitions within the College’s thriving collaborative nucleus for the visual arts. The renovation of the former United States Postal Service property was made possible in part by the generosity of the Hutto-Patterson Charitable Foundation. Visitor hours for the Hutto-Patterson Exhibition Hall are daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

ArtCenter College of Design, founded in 1930 and located in Pasadena, California, is a global leader in art and design education. The College offers 11 undergraduate and 10 graduate degrees in a wide variety of art and design disciplines, as well as year-round online and on-campus extension programs for all levels of experience. ArtCenter is the first design school to receive the United Nations’ Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status.

Staff Council, started in 2013, has a mission to create an environment where the entire staff is empowered and valued. The Council acts as an advocacy body for all ArtCenter staff members, directly providing recommendations to the President on issues and policies affecting staff.
