The Pasadena City College women’s badminton team extended its South Coast Conference winning streak to 18 matches with its fourth shutout of the season Friday. PCC remained perfect this season at 6-0 in conference, and 8-0 overall, after blanking host El Camino College, 21-0.

The Lancers are 20-1 since Jennifer Ho took over as head coach to start the 2015 season. On March 30, PCC defeated De Anza, 17-4, its second non-conference win over the Dons.

Against De Anza played at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium, Sandra Maw and Daniela Raygoza each won a pair of singles matches and the doubles team of Maw and Rebecca Tzou, the CCCAA defending state champions, recorded two match victories.

Tzou was upset in No. 1 singles as De Anza’s Elita Murtanu won 11-21, 21-15, 21-17. Tzou did beat No. 2 Megan Hsiao, 21-8, 19-21, 21-19. Eugenia Mendez beat Hsiao, 21-11, 21-13 and lost to Murtanu, 21-19, 14-21, 21-14.

In the El Camino win, Tzou, Raygoza, Jennifer Delgado, Diana Resendiz, Ana Espinoza, and Hong Yan Liu all had two singles wins. Delgado had the most exciting match as she rallied to win 18-21, 21-19, 21-16 over ECC’s Caitlyn Villalobos. Tzou-Resendiz won two doubles matches.

On Friday, April 15, PCC will return to action in a 2 p.m. home conference match v. El Camino-Compton Center.
