Public health officials reported three COVID-19 infections and zero deaths in Pasadena on Friday. Pasadena’s average daily number of infections over the prior week increased slightly to 1.4, data shows.

The daily case count has not exceeded three in 10 days, according to Pasadena Public Health Department records.

In total, 11,307 infections have been recorded in the city since March of 2020, along with 349 deaths.

Across Los Angeles County, public health officials reported 198 new infections and 5 new deaths on Friday, raising the county’s pandemic totals to 1,245,949 documented cases of the virus and 24,416 deaths.

The county’s daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.5%.

The L.A. County Department of Public health reported 240 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19, with 18% of them in intensive care units.

L.A. County Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer reissued her urge for as many county residents to get vaccinated as possible.

“Protecting L.A. County’s residents remains a top priority as physical distancing requirements and capacity limits are lifted on June 15,” she said. “COVID-19 transmission that continues to occur among unvaccinated people is resulting in hospitalizations and deaths.”

“While masks will not be required in many settings beginning June 15, face coverings remain an excellent means of protection for those not yet ready to get vaccinated,” Ferrer added. “Fully vaccinated people are the most protected, so we ask everyone eligible to receive the vaccine and are not yet vaccinated, to consider getting the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as you can.”

The California Department of Public Health announced 1,136 new infections and 55 deaths on Friday, bringing the statewide totals to 3,694,498 COVID-19 cases and 62,593 fatalities.

The state’s average positivity rate over the prior week stood at 0.8%, according to CDPH data.

As of Friday, L.A. County represented 34% of California’s COVID-19 infections and 39% of the state’s deaths.
