Pasadena Data Intelligence Firm Appoints New Chief Data Scientist

Near Intelligence, Inc., a Pasadena-based Data Intelligence Platform specializing on insights on individuals and locations, has appointed prominent data professional Dan Putler as Chief Data Scientist. 

Renowned for his expertise in predictive analytics, machine learning, optimization, and geographic information systems, Putler will spearhead Near’s analytics portfolio and craft its AI strategy, focusing on maintaining data integrity. His role involves identifying and pursuing areas for analytics improvement, ensuring customers maximize value from Near’s global datasets.

Putler said he’s enthusiastic about his new role at Near, a frontrunner in comprehending consumer behavior. 

“Building on the work I did at Alteryx to further predictive analytics and business machine learning, along with my prior academic work on advanced quantitative models of customer behavior, I look forward to exploring and enhancing Near’s data intelligence solutions across myriad operational and marketing use cases,” he said. 

Before his tenure at Near, Putler was Chief Scientist at The Public Health Company and Chief Scientist at Alteryx. He contributed to the development of R-based predictive analytics (R as in R programming, which is free open-source software used in all kinds of data science) and business machine learning tools at Alteryx. 

Additionally, as the Co-Founder and Chief Data Scientist at Anemoi Analytics, he led geo-data development for business intelligence.

Putler holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from UC Berkeley. He has served as an Associate Professor of Marketing and Marketing Division Chair at the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, along with being an Assistant Professor of Management at Purdue University Krannert School of Management.
