Firefighter paramedics from two Pasadena fire stations are breaking in two brand new rescue ambulances.
The new vehicles will be stationed at Fire Station 31, 135 S. Fair Oaks Ave., and Fire Station 36, 1140 N. Fair Oaks Ave., according to Pasadena Fire Department Battalion Chief Bill Cuskey.
“They are equipped with a state-of-the-art power loading gurney system which will assist with patient loading and unloading while reducing the risk of repetitive back injuries to first responders,” he said.
They look a bit different, too.
“The graphics package design on these two ambulances bring the vehicles into modern day design and lettering while adding an additional layer of safety,” Cuskey said. “The black reflective stipe makes the vehicle even more visible to other vehicles during both emergency and nonemergency nighttime driving.”
The new ambulances replace aging ones already in use, he said.
The department plans to replace another two to three of the department’s five total frontline advanced life support ambulances over the next couple of years, he added.
