Pasadena Fire Department Names 2 New Deputy Chiefs

The Pasadena Fire Department announced the selection of two deputy fire chiefs to aid in administering the city’s fire agency.

Tim Sell, and Anthony James, who both most recently served as battalion chiefs within the department, were named to their new roles by Fire Chief Chad Augustin, who took command of the PFD in February, city officials said in a written statement.

“They both bring their respective skill sets, experience and extensive management knowledge and are widely recognized as progressive leaders in the fire service,” Augustin said.

Sell began his firefighting career in 2007 after running a family business for a decade, according to the statement. He worked his way through the ranks to battalion chief and was assigned to the Emergency Medical Services Division.

“He led the EMS Division during the most challenging times of COVID and assisted other departments within the City and was the liaison with the Health Department,” according to the statement.

Sell recently celebrated his 17th wedding anniversary and is the father of two sons.

James became a firefighter in 2006 after spending five years in the entertainment industry, then also worked his way up to the rank of battalion chief, city officials said.

“I am extremely proud of the professionalism of the Pasadena Fire Department, and the talent within its ranks,” Augustin said.
