Pasadena Fire Department to Host Fire Service Day on May 11

The Pasadena Fire Department will host a Fire Service Day event on Saturday, May 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the department’s Training Center located at 1500 E. Villa St. The event aims to foster a closer relationship between the community and the firefighters who serve them, while also promoting fire safety awareness and education.

Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to witness various demonstrations, including auto extractions, “Get into Fire Gear” races, EMT demos, fire nozzle reaction, fire extinguisher use, and sidewalk CPR. These hands-on experiences provide a unique opportunity for community members to learn about the critical work performed by firefighters and emergency medical personnel.

The event will feature public education programs, a top priority for the City and the Fire Department. Among these initiatives is the “Learn Not to Burn” program, which targets children from preschool through sixth grade, teaching them how to prevent fires and respond to emergencies.

The Pasadena Fire Department also offers CPR classes through the American Heart Association and American Red Cross, emphasizing the life-saving potential of hands-only CPR. Furthermore, the Pasadena Firefighters Association supports burn survivors through donations to Quest, highlighting the department’s commitment to community support beyond fire prevention.

Fire Service Day serves as an essential platform for the Pasadena Fire Department to engage directly with the community, building trust and cooperation between the fire service and local residents.
