Two fire engine crews and one battalion chief from the Pasadena Fire Department left for Orange County Thursday to assist their counterparts in battling the 7,200-acre Bond Fire near Irvine, officials said.
Nine personnel in all departed to the fire about 7 a.m., city spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.
They were given the task of guarding Toll Road 241 in an effort to prevent the fire from jumping over it and growing, officials said.
The flames remained 0% contained Thursday afternoon, according to the Orange County Fire Authority. Officials were working to verify reports of multiple structures damaged.
The Bond Fire began as a structure fire on Wednesday before spreading to brush.
Two firefighter injuries were reported by the OCFA on Thursday, although the extent of the injuries was not clear.
