Six Pasadena firefighters have been deployed to two separate wildfires burning in mountainous areas of Northern California, Pasadena Fire Chief Chad Augustin said Sunday night.

“They include a member working on an Incident Management Team (IMT) deployed to the McFarland incident and five members deployed to the Dixie fire,” Augustin said.

“The five include a Strike Team Leader Trainee who is assisting with managing a strike team of five fire engines and a four person fire engine, which is one of the five fire engines making the strike team.”

As of 7 p.m. Sunday, the gigantic Dixie Fire had burned 765,635 acres across five counties: Plumas, Tehama, Lassen, Butte and Shasta. It is about 125 miles north of Lake Tahoe, which is itself threatened by the separate Caldor Fire.

It was only 48% contained.

The McFarland Fire was started by lightning on July 29th near McFarland Ridge, south of Highway 36 near Wildwood, California.

It had grown to 122,653 as of Sunday and was 94% contained.
