The figure represented the largest number of cases detected in a single day since March 18, when 19 infections were reported.

Since the start of the pandemic, public health officials have recorded 11,113 total infections and 335 deaths.

Over the prior week, an average of 7.4 Pasadenans were infected each day, according to city data.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 608 new infections and 66 deaths on Thursday.

The tallies raised the county’s totals to 1,216,250 cases of COVID-19 and 23,020 fatalities, according to a statement issued by the agency.

Meanwhile, L.A. County Director of Public Health also announced the county planned to follow along with newly released state guidelines expanding vaccine eligibility to residents over 50 as of April 1, and all residents over 16 years old as of April 15.

The Pasadena Public Health Department was yet to respond to the updated state guidelines.

“With the State’s announcement today, it means everyone age 16 and over will be eligible for the vaccine in mid-April. Expanding vaccine eligibility over the next couple of weeks will make it easier for more people to get vaccinated provided the County receives more doses,” she said. “During these times of scarce supply, our priority is to ensure that residents and workers in hard hit communities are each able to get vaccinated. As eligibility expands, we will redouble efforts to increase accessibility and availability of vaccine in communities with the highest risk and lower rate of vaccinations.”

County officials reported 729 COVID-19 patients being treated at county hospitals, with 23% of them in ICUs.

The California Department of Public Health announced 2,251 new infections and 241 deaths, raising the statewide totals to 3,553,307 COVID-19 cases and 57,091 fatalities.

The rate of positive tests over the last 7 days is 2.0%.

The state’s average positivity rate over the prior week stood at 2%, according to CDPH data.

As of Thursday, L.A. County accounted for 34% of California’s COVID-19 infections and 40% of the state’s deaths.
