Pasadena ‘Leos’ Hold Food Drive

In nearly every community in America, in towns great and small, there is a Lions Club International group. As  the world’s largest service club organization, it boasts 1.4 million members around the world. 

But did you know there is also a student component to the club? It’s called “The Leos Club,”  There are currently over 7,300 Leo Clubs in more than 150 nations. 

The Pasadena Host Lions Club, which has been serving the city for over 100 years, sponsors its own group of students from a range of schools in the Pasadena area. With a mission to “kindly and humbly serve,” both Lions and Leos work in the Pasadena area to help people in need. 

The Leo motto is “Leadership, Experience, Opportunity,” and Leo Program members “develop managerial and time management skills, experience teamwork in creating a positive impact in the community, as well as have the opportunity to grow as individuals and make life-long friendships,” said spokesperson Leos Club co-advisor Kerstin Brucki.

As part of their statewide February service project, The Pasadena Leos will hold a food drive for families and individuals currently served at the local food banks in the Pasadena surrounding area, including the Salvation Army Tabernacle, Foothill Unity Center, Friends in Deed, Union Station Homeless Services, and the Los Angeles World Harvest Food Bank. 

The Leos are encouraging residents to donate to any one of the local food banks. Donors may check the tracking form online.
