Pasadena’s Superior Court sentenced a 40-year-old Pasadena resident to 16 months in jail after finding him guilty Friday of vehicular manslaughter when he drove drunk in September and killed a pedestrian.
Marcos Lopez had earlier pleaded no contest to the charge and took a plea deal. He could have faced a maximum four years in jail if convicted, officials told the Pasadena Star News.
On September 26, 2015, Jano Keshishian, 86, was reportedly crossing the street when he was hit by a vehicle Lopez was driving. He died three days later at a hospital from major injuries.
Police arrested Lopez for being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, the newspaper said.
Lopez stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, the newspaper said. He was given credit time for 212 days.
