For the second time since 2019, Pasadena Media has won the 2021 Alliance for Community Media’s Hometown Media Award in the prestigious category of Overall Excellence in Public, Education or Government (PEG).

“I am again extremely proud of our team for being nationally recognized for the second time. We will continue to provide our community with quality programming for the people of Pasadena,” George Falardeau, executive director and CEO of Pasadena Media, said in a prepared statement.

Pasadena Media is a nonprofit operating company of the city of Pasadena that operates the community media center. In addition to providing hands-on video production experience and job skills training, the organization facilitates the four local PEG cable television channels.

The city partners with Pasadena Media to produce government programming for KPAS, with monthly shows that highlight city departments, such as the library and police department, KPAS also provides coverage of Pasadena City Council meetings and community events.

The ARROYO Channel allows the community an opportunity to create content and broadcast Pasadena Media original content, such as “Arroyo Live” and “NewsRap Local.”

KLRN showcases the Pasadena Unified School District, broadcasting meetings of the Board of Education, and PCCtv focuses on the activities occurring at Pasadena City College.

The Hometown Media Awards were established by the Alliance for Community Media to promote community media and local cable programs that are distributed on PEG access cable television channels.

The Alliance for Community Media is a national membership organization that advocates, promotes and preserves the right to media training, production, distribution, civic engagement and education in support of diverse community voices, through PEG access channels and other forms of local media.
