Pasadena Nonprofit to Host Fundraiser for Dysautonomia Patients

The Los Angeles Dysautonomia Network (LADN), a nonprofit organization supporting patients with autonomic nervous system dysfunction, is set to host its second annual “Unity in Community” fundraiser on April 21.

The event, scheduled from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., aims to raise funds for LADN’s various programs, including support groups, wellness workshops, community-building events, a disability-themed book club, and a grant program assisting low-income patients with dysautonomia-related medical expenses.

Co-Executive Directors Emily Suñez and Sally Krueger-Wyman, both Pasadena residents living with a chronic form of dysautonomia known as postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), lead the volunteer-run organization.

“Our power as an organization is that we are a network of many, and we have grown to be a supportive community of dysautonomia patients and caregivers across the state of California,” said Suñez.

“With an estimated 1.2 million Californians suffering from dysautonomia due to Long Covid, LADN’s work is more pressing than ever,” added Krueger-Wyman.

The fundraiser will feature a silent auction and raffle, fortune readings, caricature drawings, and a series of speeches by supporters of LADN.  Organizers said they expect to hear from LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger and actress Mara Wilson, a dysautonomia patient.

Pasadena restaurant Pie ‘n Burger will also be present with a food truck, donating 100% of sales to LADN. Free tickets for the event, which will be held at a private Pasadena home garden, can be obtained from LADN’s fundraising website.
