Pasadena is no more dangerous today than it was this time last year, despite recent gun incidents, Pasadena Police Chief Phillip Sanchez told local residents Wednesday evening.

Residents and leaders met at Robinson Park Wednesday evening to discuss, among other topics, the recent surge in gun violence in three Pasadena Council districts. The meeting was led by Pasadena Councilmember and Chair of the Public Safety Committee John Kennedy. Councilmembers Victor Gordo and Tyron Hampton also participated in the meeting.

Chief Sanchez detailed the most recent shootings in the area, including one Monday evening in the 700 block of Clairmont Avenue.

All three of the Councilmembers reminded the community to stay involved, to report suspicious activities, and to secure their homes against burglaries, especially those of weapons.
