On May 27, at about 2:00 a.m., Pasadena Police Officer Thomas investigated a vehicle burglary in the 2600 block of La Tierra Street.  Fortunately, the burglary suspect was captured on security video committing the crime. Subsequently, two additional vehicle burglaries were reported in the 2600 block of Deodar Circle and the other in the 2600 block of Las Lunas street. A witness who saw the crime provided officers with a description of the suspect.  A short time later, Officer Thomas monitored a disturbance call at Sunnyslope Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. The person in the disturbance call matched the description of the vehicle burglary suspect.  Officer Thomas responded to the disturbance call and detained the suspect without incident.  He then conducted a field show up where the suspect was positively identified as the person responsible for the auto burglaries. Great initiative and follow up investigation!

On May 28, at about 10:17 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 100 block of West California Boulevard regarding an assault with a deadly weapon.  On arrival, officers talked to the victim who said he was driving near Orange Grove Boulevard and Fair Oaks Avenue when a vehicle drove alongside his car.  Without warning or provocation, the occupants in the second car fired several shots at the victim, striking him on the arm.  The victim received medical treatment at a local hospital; however, he was uncooperative with the investigating officers.  It is not known if the shooting is gang-related since the victim provided very limited information.

On May 30, at about 7:56 p.m., Pasadena Police Officers Newland and Griffin (who were assisted by the Special Enforcement Section), responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a female screaming for help in the 30 block of Yale Street.  On arrival, officers located the victim inside the residence with head injuries and multiple lacerations.  She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  The victim’s boyfriend was detained outside the residence and subsequently arrested without incident for domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, and other felony charges.  Officers recovered about 10 grams methamphetamine and two handguns from the residence.

On May 30, at about 10:51 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to a call of shots fired in an apartment in the 400 block of North Euclid Avenue. On arrival, officers learned that the tenant in the upstairs apartment accidently fired a rifle round through the floor, which penetrated the ceiling of the downstairs apartment and struck the stove top.  No one was injured in the incident. The officers contacted the upstairs tenant, who was very cooperative.  They learned the accidental discharge occurred when a Male Hispanic was demonstrating how to manipulate the AR-15 Rifle to his juvenile sister.  The suspect was arrested for child endangering and the officers seized the rifle as evidence.

On May 31, at about 1:38 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the area of Del Mar Boulevard and Meredith Street regarding a traffic collision.  On arrival, officers learned that a Male White, approximately 19 years old, was traveling west on Del Mar Boulevard, just east of Meredith, when a vehicle traveling south on Meredith made a left turn in front of him.  The motorcycle rider broadsided the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision. Pasadena Police Traffic Officers were notified and responded to investigate.

On June 1 at about 9:13 p.m., Pasadena Police and Fire personnel responded to a traffic accident near Arroyo Boulevard and Rosemont Street (vehicle vs. wall). First responders found the driver in full cardiac arrest and transported him to a local hospital; he did not survive. The victim is a Male Armenian Adult, 47 years old, Altadena Resident. Based on preliminary information, he may have been employed by Los Angeles Fire Department.

On June 5, at about 1:16 p.m., the Pasadena Police Department received notification from Verdugo Dispatch Center of a possible suicidal subject at the Metro Depot Parking Structure, 149 North Halstead Street. Pasadena Police officers responded quickly; however, the subject jumped to his death prior to their arrival.  Officers located the subject (Male Adult) deceased near the northwest area of the parking structure.  Several witnesses reported seeing the subject after he jumped.  The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was notified since the parking structure in in their jurisdiction.  They will handle the investigation.
