The Pasadena Police Department has launched a community information service designed to deliver relevant and timely information and police news to residents in our area using technology. This service, created by Nixle, LLC delivers trustworthy and important public safety event notifications by web, e-mail and cell phone.
Nixle is simple and available at no cost. Residents can now take advantage of Nixle and get community information, public safety alerts, and community advisories all via e-mail and text messages by going to Nixle.com. There, they will find the prompts guiding them through the steps to sign up.
At the moment, subscribers are limited to information related to police events and traffic advisories, but it is anticipated that channels providing additional information will be added within the coming months.
“Like some of the other current services that are available, Nixle allows the department to send out information to a large number of people at one time,” says Interim Chief of Police Christopher Vicino. “But unlike those commercial services, Nixle requires authentication and the information can be trusted as from the source. We are happy to be able to provide this service as one more tool to use in our efforts to reach out to our community.”
