The scene on North Raymond Avenue near West Hammond Street about 9 p.m. February 12, 2015 as police served a search warrant and located a suspect, 35 kilos of cocaine, a handgun, and a large amount of currency.

Pasadena police who served a narcotic search warrant in the 1000 block of North Raymond Avenue last week netted 35 kilos of cocaine (77 lbs.), a semi-automatic handgun and a large amount of currency, Chief of Police Phillip Sanchez said in an email today.

The nighttime February 12 raid, reported at the time by Pasadena Now based on a report by a witness, was conducted by Pasadena police detectives assigned to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) along with officers from the Special Enforcement Section (SES).

Animal control officers were at the location as well, according to the witness, who said a police helicopter provided air support.

The warrant was based on an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, Chief Sanchez said.

“It is likely the cocaine was destined to the streets of Pasadena and surrounding cities,” Chief Sanchez said.

One suspect was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.
