The City of Sierra Madre has appointed Ted Tegart, a Pasadena resident with deep ties to the community, as its new Community Services Supervisor.

Tegart, who has worked for the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation at the Los Angeles County Arboretum in nearby Arcadia for more than a decade, will bring his passion for public programming and community service to Sierra Madre’s Community Services Department.

“The City of Sierra Madre warmly welcomes Ted Tegart as our new community services supervisor,” said Laura Aguilar, the city’s public information officer, in a statement announcing the appointment.

Tegart, originally from western New York, moved to California in 1997 to study at California State University, Northridge, where he began his career in recreation with the City of Moorpark.

His experience there sparked a passion for community service that eventually led him to settle in Pasadena in the early 2000s.

Currently residing in Pasadena’s historic Bungalow Heaven neighborhood with his wife and three elementary school-aged boys, Tegart is an active member of the local community.

In his free time, he leads Cub Scout Pack 1 in Altadena and coaches his children’s various sports teams. He also enjoys the outdoor activities Southern California has to offer as an avid outdoorsman.
