For a fourth day in a row, public health officials in Pasadena reported a single new COVID-19 infection on Wednesday.

With no fatalities reported since April 30, Pasadena’s pandemic totals stood at 11,287 infections and 346 fatalities, according to Pasadena Public Health Department data.

The city’s average number of daily infections over the prior week held steady at 1.6.

At the county level, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 205 new infections and 11 new deaths on Wednesday.

The new figures raised the county-wide totals to 1,239,280 cases of COVID-19 and 24,194 fatalities.

Just under 320 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized throughout the county, with 21% of them being treated in intensive care units, the L.A. County Department of Public Health said in a written statement.

L.A. County Director of Public Health said the relaxation of pandemic precautions planned next month will bring with it an increased risk of virus transmission.

“With summer and full re-openings around the corner, there will be increased risk for COVID-19 to spread among unvaccinated people. Millions of people are fully vaccinated, but millions are still not,” she said.

“While substantially lower than the peak, the suffering and deaths that continue to occur among unvaccinated people are, for the most part, preventable because the vaccine provides superior protection,” according to Ferrer. “If you are already vaccinated, please encourage your friends and family that are not yet vaccinated, to get protected with the vaccine. Increasing the number of people vaccinated is the path to community immunity.”

The California Department of Public Health listed 1,155 new infections and 54 deaths on Wednesday, bringing the state’s totals to 3,675,817 documented cases of COVID-19 and 61,824 deaths.

The statewide average positivity rate over the prior week stood stable at 0.8, according to CDPH data.

As of Wednesday, L.A. County represented 34% of California’s COVID-19 infections and 39% of the state’s fatalities.
