Pasadena to Host Mexico vs. New Zealand Game as Part of MexTour 2024

The historic Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena has been selected as one of the five venues to host the 2024 MexTour matches across the United States. As part of the Mexican Men’s National Team U.S. Tour, the Rose Bowl will witness what is expected to be an exciting showdown between Mexico and New Zealand on Saturday, Sept. 7.

The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) revealed the dates, cities, and opponents for the 2024 MexTour, which marks the biggest event in the 21-year history of the annual tour. The game at the Rose Bowl is expected to attract a large crowd, building on the stadium’s legacy as a renowned venue for soccer matches.

“We are thrilled to return with the MexTour to Chicago, Denver, Pasadena and Arlington, where fans – year after year – have embraced the Mexican National Team with remarkable passion,” Camilo Durana, SUM Executive Vice President, said.

The upcoming match at the Rose Bowl adds another chapter to the rivalry between Mexico and New Zealand. Mexico leads the series with six wins, zero draws, and one loss.

In 2010, the MexTour established an attendance record of 90,526 in the Rose Bowl when Mexico played against New Zealand. Organizers said a Mexico vs. Brazil match on June 8 at Texas A&M University could break that record.

The MexTour serves as a precursor to the 2024 CONMEBOL Copa America tournament, featuring top national teams like Mexico, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Brazil. The matches in September, including the game in Pasadena, are crucial for Mexico’s preparations for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup and Concacaf Nations League leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
