Organizations with 501(c)(3) status serving Pasadena and such communities as Alhambra, Altadena, Arcadia, La Cañada Flintridge, Monrovia, San Gabriel, San Marino, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena, and Temple City can now apply for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Foundation’s 2024 grant program.
In a statement Monday, the Foundation, which has a rich history of contributing over $5.5 million to more than 700 Pasadena-area organizations since 1983, is now accepting applications until Feb. 22.
The Foundation allocated nearly $240,000 in grants in 2023, benefitting 24 organizations in the San Gabriel Valley. These funds supported diverse programs for children, teens, adults, and seniors.
The beneficiaries included non-profit organizations providing animal therapy to children with special needs, offering STEAM and technical skills to underserved students, and facilitating sports recreation for individuals with visual impairments.
Applicants for the 2024 program are advised that the grant cycle is composed of three tiers, with Tier 1 being a single-year grant for $35,000, Tier 2 a one-year grant for $20,000, and Tier 3 composed of multiple single-year grants up to $10,000, with recipients eligible for three years of consecutive funding.
Applicants at Tier 3 must include information on how their program will be delivered, emphasizing a strategic approach to program implementation, the announcement said.
Grants will be awarded in Visual and Performing Arts, Sports and Recreation, and Education (Early Childhood Education, Literacy, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs.
To apply for the 2024 grant cycle, eligible organizations can visit the Tournament of Roses Foundation page, www.tournamentofroses.com/foundation. The website provides instructions on initiating the application process.
Applications will be accepted between now and Feb. 22, 2024, closing at 5 p.m. The Foundation’s Board of Directors will finalize grant selections at its annual spring meeting.
Applicants will receive funding status notifications via email in April and early May. A tentative reception is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22, the announcement said.
Established as a tax-exempt nonprofit public benefit corporation, the Tournament of Roses Foundation manages contributions from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, its supporters, and the public. Its policy-making body is a 17-member board of directors, composed of community leaders and Tournament of Roses members, which oversees the Foundation’s initiatives.
