Pasadena Transit and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will offer free rides on various public transportation services in celebration of Bike to Work Day. The initiatives by the agencies aim to promote bicycling as a healthy and sustainable mode of transportation.

According to the Pasadena Department of Transportation, cyclists can take advantage of the bike racks equipped on all Pasadena Transit vehicles. Metro buses and trains, Metrolink trains, and Pasadena Transit buses will also be free for bicyclists on Bike to Work Day.

The City has organized a rest stop at Pasadena City Hall from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., providing refreshments and biking information to participants.

Meanwhile Metro has launched promotions, including $1.00 Metro Bike Share passes and Reduced Fare 30-Day passes during May with promo code BIKEMONTH24.

On May 16, Metro Bike Share will offer free 30-minute rides with promo code 051624. Additionally, Metro Bike Hubs monthly passes will be discounted to $6 (instead of $12) for new and previous members using the promo code SAVE50MAY.

Metro has also introduced a new bike locker program that allows riders to instantly access lockers to securely park their bicycles and rent them daily, paying only for the days used. As the lead transportation planning and funding agency for Los Angeles County, Metro carries more than 900,000 boardings daily on its electric rail lines and bus routes.

Bike to Work Day is part of Pasadena’s month-long celebration of bicycling, which runs from May 5 through May 26, 2024. Throughout May, various events and activities, such as group rides and guided tours, are organized to foster a more bike-friendly community.

Bike riders are encouraged to track their trips on ridematch.info for a chance to win prizes, such as gift cards and bike-related items. More information on Metro’s Bike Month activities and community events can be found at metro.net/bikemonth.

The City of Pasadena’s Bike to Work Day initiative is organized in collaboration with community partners, including Day One and the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition.
