PUSD School Board Member and current Board President Dr. Elizabeth Pomeroy will not seek reelection.
“I have had the honor of serving as a School Board member of PUSD for thirteen years, the equivalent of a K – 12 education in our schools,” Pomeroy said. “I want to let my constituents know that I am not planning to run for reelection.”
“I could not be more enthusiastic about the importance of this vital work. As our high school seniors do as a graduation requirement, I anticipate writing a reflection on these years when it’s time to pass my torch on to a dedicated newly-elected Board member for PUSD District 5.”
Pomeroy was first elected in 2008.
According to the district’s website, Pomeroy has lived in Pasadena for more than thirty-five years. Her son and daughter attended PUSD schools.
She has served as a board member of the Pasadena Historical Society, Pasadena Sister Cities Committee, the Sierra Club and other groups.
She has also served on the Recreation and Parks and Library Commission.
In 2000 she started Many Moons Press, which publishes books on Southern California history and nature.
Pomeroy graduated from Stanford University and holds a Ph.D. in English from UCLA. She served on the staff of the Huntington Library for ten years and also worked at the W.M. Keck Foundation in Los Angeles.
Over the years she has taught English at Pasadena City College and also taught at UCLA, UC Irvine, and California State University Los Angeles.
