Pasadena Village Champions Senior Wellness with Gift Card Vaccination Drive

For many older adults, the specter of COVID-19 lingers. But Pasadena Village, a nonprofit empowering independent living for adults over 55, is taking action.

In partnership with the Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative, powered by USAging, Pasadena Village is hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic at W & P Pharmacy on Friday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees will receive a $20 gift card upon getting their vaccine.

The clinic aims to facilitate access to the latest COVID-19 vaccine, especially for seniors, following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recent recommendation. On February 28, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Mandy Cohen endorsed the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ advice that adults aged 65 years and older should receive an additional updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine dose.

This recommendation is based on the heightened risk of severe disease from COVID-19 in older adults and the effectiveness of the vaccine in this demographic.

W & P Pharmacy, located at 9205 Whittier Blvd, Pico Rivera, CA 90660, will host this event. Those interested should contact Pasadena Village at 626-765-6037 (626-219-0073 for Spanish speakers) or the W & P Pharmacy directly at 562-566-3160 for additional information, to request a free ride to the clinic, or to inquire about eligibility and insurance coverage.

Pasadena Village encourages community members to bring their COVID-19 Vaccination Card (if applicable), along with Medicare or other insurance information, to the clinic. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is available online for those who prefer to secure their spot in advance.

For those unable to attend the clinic on March 22, Pasadena Village offers assistance with vaccine information, scheduling appointments, and arranging transportation to appointments at convenient times and locations. Further details can be found on their website at https://www.pasadenavillage.org/pages/10099-vaccine-resources or by contacting them directly.

Pasadena Village is a community of adults over 55 committed to living independently with a sense of mutual support, enrichment, and inclusiveness.
