Pasadena Water and Power to Replace Over 90-Year-Old Water Main Along Arroyo Parkway

Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) is undertaking a major infrastructure project starting on Monday, May 9 along Arroyo Parkway.

The project will replace the existing over 90-year-old, 8-inch water main to increase the reliability and quality of water service. Construction work will span from Glenarm Street to Cordova Street, and is expected to be completed in June 2023.

“This much-needed capital investment project will help to ensure PWP maintains overall reliability and quality of water service that customers expect and deserve,” said Interim General Manager Jeffrey Kightlinger. “PWP is a community-owned, not-for-profit utility and reinvests revenue generated to provide vital services and infrastructure improvements to serve our customers. Projects like this help ensure the long-term health and safety of our water and community.”

During the project, residents and businesses located between Glenarm Street and Cordova Street may be impacted. Construction work will be contained to approximately one block at a time between Glenarm and Cordova Streets to help minimize any impacts.

Construction will intermittently affect water service. Notices of any water interruptions will be given at least 48 hours in advance. Efforts will be taken to keep such inconveniences to a minimum.

Work will occur Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews will use a variety of heavy equipment including excavators, backhoes, loaders, and construction trucks, which may cause additional noise and dust in the area. Signs and delineators will be used to minimize the impact of traffic flow along Arroyo Parkway.

At least one driving lane will be accessible in both directions, and access to driveways will be provided.

The City asks drivers to observe and adhere to posted no parking zones, construction signs, and traffic flaggers.
