Pasadena Water & Power Launches Online ‘Bill Estimator’ Ahead of Proposed Water Rates Adjustments Hearing

Published on Monday, April 8, 2024 | 6:12 pm

Pasadena Water & Power has launched a groundbreaking online “bill estimator” tool, a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at promoting financial awareness and planning among its customers. The tool provides insights into how the Department’s proposed water rate adjustments could impact their bills.

These rate adjustments, which will be the subject of a public hearing that the Pasadena City Council is convening on Monday, June 3, starting at 5:30 p.m., are intended to address rising operational costs and facilitate crucial improvements to the water infrastructure.

This innovative ‘bill estimator’ approach by PWP empowers its customers by providing them with a clear understanding of their potential bills ahead of the proposed water rates adjustments.

Before the public hearing, PWP has lined up a series of community meetings during this spring, where residents can engage directly and voice their perspectives on the proposed adjustments.

These meetings will be on Wednesday, April 24, a virtual meeting starting at 6 p.m., with details to be provided on the PWP webpage later; Wednesday, May 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Victory Park Community Center, at 2572 Paloma Street; and Thursday, May 23, at 2 p.m., at the Robinson Park Recreation Center, at 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave.

As developed by PWP, the online “bill estimator” offers customers a simplified overview of billing inputs, allowing them to gain a general understanding of how the proposed rate changes might impact their budgets based on individual projections of water usage. PWP clarified that while the bill estimator provides valuable insights, actual bills may vary based on specific usage patterns.

In addition to estimating water rates, the bill estimator also outlines proposed changes affecting sewer and refuse services provided by the city’s Department of Public Works Department, helping customers understand potential billing adjustments.

Customers seeking more information about the bill estimator can visit https://pwp.cityofpasadena.net/water-cost-of-service-analysis/. The page also provides more detailed insights into the proposed rate adjustments.
