A 60-year-old Los Angeles woman was sexually assaulted early Monday morning in Pasadena while retrieving items from her car, according to police.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:38 a.m.Monday, April 29 in the 1900 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue. The victim told responding officers that after arriving at the location, she was removing items from her trunk when a man grabbed her, turned her around, and forced her to the ground.
According to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Edgar Sanchez the suspect, described as a Hispanic male about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds wearing a black hoodie and black shorts, allegedly groped the woman over her shirt and attempted to remove her pants.
The victim fought back and yelled, prompting nearby dogs to start barking, which scared off the attacker.
The suspect then fled on foot towards North Fair Oaks Avenue, said Sanchez. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the man.
The victim, who sustained an abrasion to her right elbow and complained of leg and back pain, gathered her belongings, went inside, and called 911. Pasadena Fire Department personnel responded and treated her injuries at the scene, said Sanchez.
No weapons were used in the alleged assault. While surveillance video is available from the location, it has not yet been reviewed by investigators, Sanchez said.
