Pasadena City College’s Academic Senate is proud to host award-winning author Hector Tobar on Tuesday, April 2, from noon to 3 p.m. in PCC’s Creveling Lounge. Tobar will be discussing his most recent books, The Barbarian Nurseries and the Tattooed Solider, as well as his life story.

Tobar is a Los Angeles-born novelist and journalist who was part of the Los Angeles Times reporting team that won a Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the 1992 L.A. riots. He’s worked for the Los Angeles Times for more than two decades as a city reporter and a national and foreign correspondent.

Additionally, The Barbarian Nurseries was named a New York Times Notable Book in 2011. It also won the California Book Award Gold Medal for Fiction, a distinction he shares with authors John Steinbeck, Michael Chabon, and T.C. Boyle, among others.

“This is a great way for students, faculty and staff to meet the author,” said Marcy Portillo, secretary for the PCC Association of Latino Employees.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (626) 585-7952.
