Nora To’omalatai, a two-time All-South Coast Conference outside hitter for Pasadena City College’s women’s volleyball team in 2012-13, is playing for the American Samoa national team this week at the XV Pacific Games held in Port Moresby, New Guinea.

To’omalatai, who was an All-SoCal selection in 2013 for the Lancers, will see action during the Pacific Games starting with matches this Friday, July 10. American Samoa is one of 24 countries and South Pacific island territories taking part in the annual world sports event.

To’omalatai was recruited and played for former PCC head coach Tammy Silva in 2012. She played for current head coach Kari Post (an assistant then) in 2013.

In both seasons, To’omalatai was the Lancers’ top kills leader, helping PCC reach the third round of regionals in 2012 as well as the team winning the South Coast Conference title (shared with El Camino College). In ’13, she helped a Cinderella Lancers team to the second round of playoffs.

In her sophomore season, she totaled a PCC single-season record for kills with 414 and her two-year totals of 668 kills and 94 aces put her at the top of PCC’s career leader list.
