Since Jennifer Ho took over as head coach last year, the Lancers have been unbeatable in South Coast Conference play. PCC ran its record to 14-0 in conference play under Ho, including 2-0 this year with a 21-0 blanking of El Camino College-Compton Center on Feb. 26. It was the Lancers first home contest at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
In singles, No. 1 Rebecca Tzou, No. 2 Kimberly Jones, No. 3 Jennifer Delgado, No. 4 Ana Espinoza, No. 5 Diane Resendiz, and No. 6 Hong Yan Liu recorded two sweeps each. In doubles, Jones (pictured) and Eugenia Mendez played at No. 1 and won twice while Espinoza and Daniela Raygoza also scored a pair of wins. Resendiz and Liu won the No. 3 doubles (in community college badminton, No. 3 doubles plays only one match).
Tzou surrendered just nine combined points in four winning sets over her Compton opponents.
On Friday, Mar. 11, the Lancers will play at CCCAA defending state champion De Anza College. On Saturday, Mar. 12, PCC will play in the NorCal’s Coast Conference individuals tournament.
