Dr. Diane Cullinane, a developmental pediatrician and executive director at Professional Child Development Associates (PCDA), will be traveling to China on Oct. 21 to present at the Sixth Annual International Symposium on Autism in Nanjing. She will also be presenting to a group of parents and professionals in Beijing.

This trip marks the third time that Dr. Cullinane has been invited to teach in China about treatment for children with autism. In 2011, Dr. Cullinane presented at the International Conference, and had the opportunity to visit schools and meet teachers and administrators in Chengdu. In 2012, Dr. Cullinane presented at the Annual Symposium in Nanjing, and visited the Amity Children’s Development Center, associated with the university in Nanjing. She also had the opportunity to travel to the remote city of Urumqi and meet with parents, doctors and professionals at the rehabilitation center there. These trips are funded by Joni and Friends International Disability ministry, in conjunction with the Amity Foundation, an independent Chinese social development organization (NGO). Dr. Cullinane has also spoken about her experiences locally, at the Chinese Parents Association for the Disabled.

“It is a privilege to be invited back to China for a third time,” commented Dr. Cullinane. “I enjoy being able to share insights about the importance of relationships to promote development, and to offer a vision of hope for the capacities of children with autism.”
