The Playhouse Party, Pasadena Playhouse’s second annual benefit event exceeded all expectations by raising over $675,000 on Saturday, April 13, in a remarkable display of support for the iconic theater institution.

Co-chaired by Elizabeth Hall, Y-Vonne Hutchinson, Anita Lawler, and Leigh Olivar, the event brought together more than 300 guests for an evening filled with entertainment, philanthropy, and celebration.

With El Molino Avenue transformed into a bustling hub of activity, the festivities spilled from Pasadena Playhouse’s courtyard onto the streets, setting the stage for an unforgettable night. Attendees wearing shimmering cocktail attire were treated to surprise performances by local talents, including Rio Navaro from the Pasadena Conservatory of Music and the McKinley Middle School Drum Corps.

The event started with cocktails and a silent auction, where guests were given the opportunity to bid on curated experiences and artisanal items generously donated by the community. Dinner, provided by Heirloom LA, was accompanied by a special performance by Jasmine Amy Rogers and the new Playhouse Players.

The highlight of the night was the “Late Nite at the House Party,” hosted by comedian Kate Berlant, who also served as DJ for the event. With Bar Chelou supplying cocktails, mocktails, wine, food, and dessert, guests reveled in the festive atmosphere while contributing to a noble cause.

Some of the speakers at the event included Board of Trustee President Erin Baker, Event co-chair Y-Vonne Hutchinson, and Playhouse staff members Omar Avedanke and Bonne McHeffey. Rich Caparella of KUSC Radio and Jelly’s Last Jam cast member Jasmine Amy Rogers also graced the stage.

Support for the event poured in from various quarters, with notable donors including Jerry & Terri Kohl, Ellen & Harvey Knell, Stephanie & Leo Dencik, and U.S. Bank, among others.

Founded in 1917, Pasadena Playhouse has been a cornerstone of the performing arts scene, staging thousands of original productions and nurturing emerging talents through its School for Theater Arts. Under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Danny Feldman, the theater remains committed to its founding principles of community engagement and inclusivity, ensuring that theater remains accessible to all.
