Police Clear Large Unruly Crowd from Robinson Park, Rescue Unconscious Fight Victim

Pasadena police declared a crowd of as many as 250 people in Robinson Park an “unlawful assembly” after “multiple” fights broke out throughout the gathering early Saturday evening. One man was knocked unconscious and required rescue.

The gathering came in the wake of an otherwise-peaceful Black History Parade earlier in the day.

Pasadena Police Lt. John Mercado said every available Pasadena officer on duty was sent to the park. A skirmish line was formed to clear the crowd from the parking lot.

Police displayed batons, Mercado said, but there was no use of force by officers.  He said the multiple fights were among members of the crowd and did not involve police.

No officers were injured during the incident.

“We had someone who was unconscious who had been in a fight,” Mercado said. “At that point we declared it an ‘unlawful assembly.’ and ordered eveyone out of the park ”

Mercado said the fight victim was treated by Pasadena Fire Dept. paramedics and “is doing fine.”

No arrests were made, Mercado said.
