Paramedics took a man to a hospital with severe cuts to the wrist Monday after he injured himself while allegedly smashing out the window of a Pasadena restaurant in a fit of rage, police said.
The unusual incident took place about 10:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of East Colorado Boulevard, said Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema.
Police were first called by an employee of a seafood restaurant who reported a man had just thrown a rock at his car, the lieutenant said.
When officers arrived, they found the alleged rock-thrower in the area, “bleeding profusely” from a cut to one of his wrists, he said.
Police followed the trail of blood back to a small window at the seafood restaurant, which the man ultimately admitted to smashing, at which point he accidentally cut himself on the glass.
He was taken to a hospital for treatment and was eventually expected to face vandalism charges, according to Hettema. His identity was not immediately available.
The man allegedly told police he caused the damage because he had been panhandling in the area and became angry because he wasn’t making any money.
