A Pasadena man accused of stabbing his mother to death in the home they shared is scheduled to in a Pasadena courtroom on Wednesday.
Alex Edward Evans, 32, faces one count of murder with an allegation of using a knife as a deadly and dangerous weapon, for allegedly killing his 67-year-old mother on Sept. 24, 2018.
The Pasadena Police Department said at the time officers responded to a call “from a man stating he killed his mother.”
“Police dispatch kept the suspect on the line while officers responded to the scene,” the statement said.
Officers found the victim, Katrina Evans, in a home in the 1000 block of North Mentor Avenue in Pasadena. Prosecutors said the victim died from multiple stab wounds.
That night, the woman’s son, Alex Evans, was arrested, police said.
Evans faces 26 years to life in state prison if convicted as charged. Bail is scheduled at more than $2 million.
