The Pasadena Unified School District has reduced its Grab and Go meals program to one day per week at two locations.

From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Dec. 29, the local food program will be held at John Muir High School, 1905 Lincoln Ave., and Norma Coombs Elementary School, 2600 Paloma St.

Food was last distributed on Dec. 22.

The program provides breakfast and lunch.

The Grab N’ Go program began in March at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic to help ensure students had enough to eat.

The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and PUSD’s Food and Nutrition Services Department.

The PUSD has distributed thousands of pre-packaged meals on weekdays at school sites across the city due to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s order to close schools to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Soon after the start of the program, the city partnered with the school district to expand meal service to weekends for students and their families struggling to make ends meet.
