The Pasadena Fire Department is lifting its Red Flag Fire Alert and parking restrictions as of 6 p.m. Sunday night, city officials report.
“Always a fire danger but humidity is expected to rise so after 6 p.m. the National Weather Service indicates critical fire danger is not as prevalent,” Pasadena Fire Dept. spokesperson Lisa Derderian said.
Pasadena Fire Chief Calvin Wells had declared a Red Flag Alert throughout Pasadena effective last Thursday night as the National Weather Service warned that extreme fire hazard conditions were developing in the San Gabriel Valley.
However by this morning the weather bureau was reporting that Santa Ana winds had weakened considerably across the area. A slight on shore breeze is expected to develop for coast and valley areas by this evening. On Monday the on shore breeze will reach the mountains.
With the improving humidity and lessening winds, officials decided to lift the alert conditions.
