Registration has opened for the SoCal Women’s Conference, an annual event that brings together women, families, community organizations, medical professionals and wellness experts for a day of education, inspiration and networking.

The conference, open to the public, will take place on April 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Westin Pasadena hotel, located at 191 N. Los Robles Ave.

The conference aims to empower women and support “survivorship beyond the diagnosis and treatment of cancer,” according to organizers. It will feature keynote speakers, breakout sessions, hands-on workshops, an expo, and a Young Women’s Conference (YWC) focused on topics including cancer research, employment law, genetic counseling, self-image, intimacy, Alzheimer’s disease, biohacking beauty, building generational wealth and more.

While admission to some parts of the conference is free, registration is required as space is limited. Attendees can purchase a continental breakfast for $30 and a plated lunch for $125.

Featured speakers will include Susan Howland, Tamika Henry, Kay Durairaj, Tammy Wong, Karen Lincoln, Armen Rostami, Irina Mellkumyan, Wendy Gladney, Jolean Sheffield, Maria Silva-Palacios, Kristina DeBree, Syleecia Thompson, Portia Wood, Monica Blake, Carlene Davis and Pamela Weatherspoon.

Alongside the main conference, a “Man Cave” event will be held to address issues of men’s health and wellbeing. The Man Cave will be chaired by Ron Carter and Danny Bakewell, Jr., with an executive team and members including medical professionals and community leaders. The event will feature special guest Rick Cole and cover topics like Black men’s health, mental health, holistic medicine, environmental justice, kidney care and prostate cancer. Fun activities such as a Barbershop Corner, dominoes, cards and a men’s swag bag are also planned. Registration for the Man Cave event is $125 and includes a continental breakfast and lunch.

The conference is supported by presenting sponsors University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital and Keck Medicine of University of Southern California.

It was founded by Lena Louise Kennedy, with Sam Yarbrough as co-founder, and is organized by an advisory Board and directors that include Honorable Kathryn Barger, Teena Hostovich, and various community organizations and churches.

The SoCal Women’s Conference is known for empowering women and has a strong community presence. It offers a platform for learning, sharing, and community building through workshops and sessions on exercise, self-care, and body image. A Young Women Commission is also part of the event.

The conference was originally scheduled for December 1, but was rescheduled to April 26 due to a strike involving hotels and unions.

Those interested in attending can register at the conference website, online here.
