Report: Newsom Lifts Stay-At-Home Order

Outdoor dining could return soon

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday lifted his stay-at-home order, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times, a move which could allow local restaurants to continue outdoor dining services and other businesses to reopen.

Although hospital intensive care unit capacity has not returned to 15%, all counties will return to the colored tier system that assigns local risk levels based on case numbers and rates of positive test results for coronavirus infections.

“I support following the Governor’s recommended guidelines for Southern California, and reopening outdoor dining, personal care services and other industries that were previously closed by these orders,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger, “A data-driven and pragmatic policy approach is essential to protecting public health, while balancing the devastating social, emotional and economic impacts of this virus.”

News that the governor planned to lift the order spread Sunday night. It was not immediately known why the order is being lifted now.

Although the state has reportedly lifted the order with little warning, the city of Pasadena still has the option to keep the order in place.
