Richard Bruckner, director of the Pasadena Planning and Development Department, was approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor to become the county’s planning director effective February 1.
“It has been an honor to serve the Pasadena community for the past 10 years,†he said. “I am continuously impressed with the commitment of city staff, elected officials, appointed commissioners and local leaders to the betterment of this community.â€
Bruckner has been with the city of Pasadena since July 1999. He previously was deputy executive director of the Anaheim Community Development Department and principal planner of the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency.
“Under Richard Bruckner’s leadership the number of historic districts in Pasadena has doubled, the Green City Action Plan has been adopted and many other accomplishments have been achieved,†said City Manager Michael J. Beck. “It is with mixed emotions that I congratulate him on this promotional opportunity. He will be missed in Pasadena .â€
Additional accomplishments include adoption of the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance, completion of Paseo Colorado including restructuring of finances, revision of the Pasadena Zoning Code, establishment of three property-based business improvement districts, updating several specific plans, preparing the Central District Specific Plan and acquiring Annandale Canyon . Many of the department’s accomplishments have been recognized with national, state and regional awards.
