The Rotary Club of Pasadena has opened the application period for a substantial $31,000 Global Grant Scholarship intended for graduate students seeking opportunities to study abroad.

The scholarship project is a collaborative effort funded by contributions from Rotary International, District 5300, and the sponsoring Rotary Club of Pasadena.

A Rotary Club announcement Friday said graduate student candidates must have their area of study in one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus, which include peacebuilding and conflict prevention, disease prevention and treatment, water, sanitation, and hygiene, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, community economic development and environment, in order to qualify for the scholarship.

“Rotary has long held a commitment to supporting education,”  Fred Findley, Co?Chair of the Pasadena Rotary Global Grant Scholarship Committee, said in the statement. “A scholarship in this amount can truly change a student’s life and set them on a path to making a real difference in the world, while also building relationships on a global level.”

The Global Grant Scholarship Committee oversees the selection process. Candidates will be evaluated based on several criteria, including demonstrated leadership skills, a track record of academic or vocational excellence, active engagement in community service, well-defined and achievable goals, advocacy plans within their chosen field, and how their aspirations harmonize with Rotary International’s objectives.

Applications for this prestigious scholarship must be submitted by Dec. 31, 2023.
