The Drug Enforcement Administration’s campaign for the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 22. The Pasadena Police Department announced its participation in the campaign, in partnership with local nonprofit Day One.

The event is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs free of charge.

In Pasadena, representatives from the Pasadena Police Department and Day One will be on site between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., at the front steps of the Pasadena Police Department located at 207 N. Garfield Avenue. They will assist with the disposal process and answer any questions.

“Disposing of prescription drugs safely is the best way to prevent misuse and abuse,” said Pasadena Police Lt. Monica Cuellar. “Remember to avoid disposing of medications at home; drop them off at a safe and secure location on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.”

If you are unable to drop off your unwanted prescription drugs at our location, you can visit DEATakeBack.com for additional locations near you.

Please note that needles or sharps of any kind are not accepted at this event.

Pasadena residents can also dispose of their unused or expired medications at a drop-off location on campus at 4760 Sunset Blvd. Los Angeles, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Kaiser Permanente Southern California is based in Pasadena.

“At Kaiser Permanente, we care about the total health of our Southern California community, and we believe it’s our duty to educate residents about the importance of the proper and safe disposal of prescription drugs, “said Rhonda Polchak, vice president of Pharmacy Operations and Services for Kaiser Permanente Southern California.
