Prosecutors filed a case Monday against a man and woman from San Dimas accused of shooting into a home occupied by a senior citizen in Pasadena’s Oak Knoll neighborhood last month, authorities said.

The shooting took place about 12:30 a.m. on July 4 in the 1300 block of Ridge Way, Pasadena police officials said at the time.

After a woman reported hearing several gunshots outside her home, officers responded to find the house had been struck by gunfire three times, including once through a window, according to Lt. Anthony Burgess.

No suspect description was initially available at the time.

An investigation was launched by the Pasadena Police Department Robbery-Homicide Unit, officials said.

“As their comprehensive investigation progressed, detectives identified two suspects believed to be responsible for the gun violence,” police said in a written statement.

Detectives served a search warrant in San Dimas on Thursday morning in connection with the shooting, officials said.

Jay Aaron Castillo, 26, and Kimberly Ann Troncoso, 38, both of San Dimas, were arrested, according to police and Los Angeles County booking records.

“Items of evidence, including multiple firearms, were located and recovered during the execution of the search warrant,” the statement said.

The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office filed charges of shooting at an inhabited dwelling against the suspects on Monday, authorities added.

No information regarding a motive for the shooting was available.

Bail for Castillo was set at $260,000, while Troncoso’s bail was set at $250,000, records show. Both were scheduled to appear in the Pasadena branch of L.A. County Superior Court to answer to the charges Tuesday.
