A man in his twenties died after being shot in the Washington Square area of north Pasadena Tuesday night.

Tuesday night's shootings was just blocks from a Monday night attack which left one victim in critical condition.

At about 9:44 pm, Pasadena Police responded to the area of Palm Terrace and Claremont Street regarding reports of gunshots heard in the area. Officers found a black man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Pasadena Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

This is Pasadena’s first homicide of 2016.

Detectives responded to the scene immediately, police said.

According to authorities, it is unknown whether the incident was gang related or whether the shooting was associated with last night’s shooting incident in the 1400 block of north El Molino Avenue.

The homicide investigation is in early stages so limited information is available, police said.
