Silven Zimmerman, a 24-year veteran of the United States Postal Service, was sworn in as the new Postmaster of Pasadena on Friday. In a ceremony at the Pasadena Plaza Station, Zimmerman took the official Oath of Office, administered by Post Office Operations Manager Jolene Fischer.

Zimmerman, who began his postal career in 2000 as a city carrier in Tampa, Fla., has served in various roles throughout his tenure. These positions included several years as a Driving Safety Instructor, a trainer in Learning and Development, a Station Supervisor in Tampa, a Financial Specialist, and a member of the Gulf Atlantic Hurricane Relief Team.

Before his promotion to Postmaster of Pasadena, Zimmerman’s most recent role was as Postmaster of the Alhambra Post Office in California. As Pasadena’s Postmaster, he will oversee the delivery of 250,000 pieces of mail to over 80,256 delivery stops and manage 442 employees.

“To me, the title of Postmaster is an honor. Being a Postmaster gives me the opportunity of being a committed leader to my postal team but more importantly being committed to the community of Pasadena,” Zimmerman said. “It is my goal to build trust within the community of the Pasadena Postal Service by providing excellent customer service both in the office and the neighborhoods in which we serve.”

Zimmerman emphasized his commitment to building trust within the community by providing excellent customer service, in line with the USPS Delivering for America plan. He is prepared to adapt to the evolving needs of all customers.

A father of three daughters and grandfather of three granddaughters, Zimmerman resides in Whittier, Calif., with his wife Alisha and enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with his dog.

He is deeply committed to volunteer work and community engagement, having served as a Referee for City Adult Softball Leagues, President for Tampa Gym and Dance, and a member of Krewe of Saint Yago.

Zimmerman also has a history of volunteering at St. Jude’s Hospital and Metropolitan Ministry.

As Postmaster, Zimmerman will oversee 119 Pasadena city routes and 13 city routes in San Marino, serving a population of over 134,000. He will also be responsible for servicing over 7,888 post office boxes in the area.
