South Pasadena Deactivates Emergency Operations Center

The South Pasadena Incident Command Staff has decided to deactivate the South Pasadena Emergency Operations Center and return to normal operations with some modification for on-going recovery issues, city officials said this morning.

The city is still without power to a third of the residences.

A road closure is planned for Fremont Ave. between Oak St. and Spruce St. beginning around 1 p.m. Saturday into Sunday for an approximate 24 hour period to allow Edison to position a crane for a tree removal. Edison will provide traffic control and detours.

The status of schools reopening Monday is dependent of the restoration of power to the campuses.

The city shelter at 1120 Oxley St. had only three people stay the night and has been deactivated. Daytime shelter is available at the South Pasadena Library at 1100 Oxley St., adjacent to the senior center. Overnight operations will be evaluated by Community Services and Library staff as necessary.

With the exception of a few downed wire calls handled by the South Pasadena Fire Dept., the city has moved fully into the recovery phase of the operation. Public Works will work through the weekend to move debris.
