The City of South Pasadena is still accepting applications for its 2015-2016 Camp Med After-School Program, which started on August 20, 2015 and will run until June 9, 2016.

Camp Med, for children Grades 1 to 5, offers an enjoyable and safe environment for the children. The four-week basic program entails recreational activities ranging from sports activities, arts and crafts, games, reading, and homework time.

South Pasadena’s Community Services Department has caring and experienced CPR/First Aid certified staff to manage the program.

Camp Med is open from 2:30 to 6:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 1 to 6 p.m. Fridays, at Orange Grove Park, 815 Mission St., in South Pasadena.

A typical Camp Med day Monday through Thursday includes organized sports and games for children, free play, and homework help where some of the staff are available to answer the kid’s homework-related questions.

Fridays are busier with arts and crafts included, readers from the library, and an afternoon movie.

The city provides a snack every day for the kids, with a snack list posted on the information board. Parents may also provide their children with additional snacks, and those whose children have allergies are advised to include the information in the application beforehand.

The program also offers pickup from Arroyo Vista, Marengo and Monterey Hills Elementary Schools to bring the children to Orange Grove Park.

Pre-registration is required for the service. The application form can be found on the City of South Pasadena’s website and also at the Recreation Office, 815 Mission St., between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The website also has links to a Camp Med Parents Handbook where the current fee schedule and payment policy can be found.

Effective July 1, 2016, the program fees for Camp Med will be $80 per week for one child, $148 per week for two children and $215 per week for three.
